Rust is a multiplayer only survival video game developed and released by Facepunch Studios in February 2018 for Microsoft Windows, macOS and Linux. Rust was initially created as a clone of DayZ, a popular mod for ARMA 2, with crafting elements similar to those of Minecraft.
Rust's goal is to survive in the desert using collected or stolen materials. Players must successfully manage hunger, thirst and health or risk death. Despite the threatening bears and wolves, the main threat is other players due to the multiplayer game. Combat is achieved by firearms and primitive weapons, such as bows. In addition, vehicles that drive non-player characters will occasionally move around, attacking heavily armed players. They can be persistently beaten. Rust contains craft, though it was initially limited to the discovery of certain objects in the open world of the game. To stay protected, players must build bases or join clans to increase their chances of survival. Attacks are a major aspect of the Rust game and are more often carried out by large clans.
