COD: Modern Warfare 3
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (styled as Call of Duty: MW3) is a first-person shooter video game, developed jointly by Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, with the help of Raven Software and released by Activision. The game was released worldwide in November 2011 for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. It is the third and final installment in the original saga of Modern Warfare, a direct sequel to 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and the eighth overall installment of Call of Duty. N-Space has developed a separate version for the Nintendo DS, while Treyarch has developed a Wii port for the game. In Japan, Square Enix has released a game with a separate version with a subtitle and a duplicate version.
The game's campaign follows Modern Warfare 2 and starts right after the events of the last mission. Much like in Modern Warfare 2, it focuses on Task Force 141, which features Captain Price, Soap MacTavish and Yuri, one of the playable characters. In addition to the Delta Force and the Special Air Service, they are hunting Vladimir Makarov (antagonist of Modern Warfare 2), a Russian terrorist who heads the Russian ultranationalist party. He is leading several terrorist attacks across Europe, triggering a large-scale war between ultranationalists and friendly forces. For multiplayer game mode, new types of choice modes and killstreak choices have been introduced. Improvements were also made in a way that addressed the issues encountered in Modern Warfare 2.
